miami lawyer's pants catch fire during arson trial

It's not just a metaphor anymore: a defense lawyer literally had "pants on fire" as he addressed a jury in Miami Wednesday.Stephen Gutierrez was about to deliver closing remarks in an arson case, contending that his client didn't intentionally set fire to his car, but that it spontaneously combusted. When he began fiddling with his pocket, the Miami Herald reports, smoke began emerging and he ran out of the courtroom. The jurors were removed from the courtroom and Gutierrez returned with a "singed pocket," but maintained that his own spontaneous combustion was not an act. Witnesses told the Herald that Gutierrez blamed an e-cigarette in his pocket.A Miami-Dade Circuit Judge could decide to hold Gutierrez in contempt of court, the Herald adds.Jurors found his client guilty of the arson charg

questions surrounding trump's yemen raid linger

It’s been about a month since Donald Trump ordered his first military raid as president, which tragically turned deadly. As we’ve discussed, the plan was to acquire intelligence and equipment at an al Qaeda camp in Yemen, but the mission quickly went sideways: Chief Petty Officer William “Ryan” Owens, a member of SEAL Team 6, was killed; several other Americans were injured; and by the end of the operation, multiple civilians, including children, were dead. It’s been described as a mission in which “almost everything went wrong,” a dynamic made more complicated by U.S. military officials suggesting to Reuters that Trump approved the mission “without sufficient intelligence, ground support or adequate backup preparations.”Owens’ father, Bill, told the Miami Herald that he still has questions

Although the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will be announced in about three weeks, Samsung has already aired a TV commercial for the upcoming devices in South Korea. This obviously isn’t the usual way of doing business, as advertisements like these are normally released closer to launch. So, why did Samsung speed things up this year? According to an industry analyst who spoke with The Korea Herald, the tech giant wants to get the spotlight off the LG G6, which has been doing very well in South Korea so far. The device has proven to be quite popular among consumers, as it received 82,000 pre-orders in just eight days and sold over 30,000 units in the first two days since it launched.See also:Check out Galaxy S8 and S8+ size comparison with Galaxy S7, Note 7, and other devices4 days agoThe LG G6 pose

A police officer who kicked, punched and stomped on a man after he was involved in a high-speed crash during a pursuit in Newcastle has been found not guilty of assault after the prosecution failed to prove he knew what he was doing.Senior constable Christopher Charles Fullick, 37, had raised the defence of "automatism" as a result of post-traumatic amnesia, claiming he had no memory of the incident, or the next 10 minutes, after he was involved in a crash with the fleeing vehicle that "nearly killed" him.The Bondi to Manly walkVideo duration02:28Previous slideNext slideVideo duration01:26Dashcam video: police officer found not ...Dashcam video: police officer found not guilty of assaultDashcam video shows a police officer kicking, punching and stomping on a man after he was involved in a
