Sweden has sought to set the record straight after Donald Trump linked immigration to a supposed rise in violence in the Scandinavian country, publishing "facts" to correct "simplistic" and "inaccurate information".
The foreign ministry posted on its website a series of claims that have been circulating in the media since the US president made his remarks about Sweden in a speech in Florida on February 18.
Addressing supporters, Trump listed places that have been targeted recently by terrorists, citing Paris, Brussels, Berlin and Nice, and appeared to suggest something had happened in Sweden on February 17.

‘president obama’s behind it’, trump blames predecessor for leaks

US President Donald Trump has blamed staff members appointed by the previous administration for leaking information against him, alleging that President Barack Obama was behind it. In an interview with 'Fox & Friends' the morning of President Donald Trump’s much-anticipated address to a joint sitting of Congress, the US leader blamed his predecessor for the high number of leaks against his administration.“I think that President Obama’s behind it because his people are certainly behind it,” Trump said.“And some of the leaks possibly come from that group, you know, some of the leaks – which are very serious leaks, because they’re very bad in terms of national security.“Don’t forget, we have people from other campaigns, we have people from other governments – we have a lot of people.”Trump ha

`economic nationalism` according to donald trump — and stephen bannon.

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) — an annual gathering of conservative Republicans and the people who love them — was held near Washington, D.C., in late February. This year’s event was the site of some celebrations of Trumpian victory, some drahmaaaaa, and, most noticeably, the re-emergence of a very old economic philosophy. Stephen Bannon, one of Donald Trump's most trusted advisers, told White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus in an onstage conversation that President Trump would be pursuing “an economic nationalist agenda.” But what exactly was Bannon promising? “I would be hesitant to even define [economic nationalism], because I don't think anyone knows what it means,” Jack Spencer, vice-president for the Institute for Economic Freedom and Opportunity at the Heri

trump congress address: republican dissent looms

Donald Trump made a fortune selling developments by making big promises about how his projects would turn out. Addressing a joint session of Congress Tuesday night, the President used every sales trick in his book — assurances, bluster, and grandiose vision — to sell an agenda that promised to be all things to all Republicans. The border will be secure. Illegal immigration will be stopped. Highways will be built. Obamacare will be replaced. Everyone will have access to health coverage. Lawmakers in Trump's party, so often at odds with their president, came out of the Capitol nearly giddy.“It was a wonderful speech,” said Sen. Ted Cruz, the conservative from Texas.“I thought it was terrific,” said Rep. Steve King of Iowa, a member of the conservative House Freedom caucus.“That was a home ru
